MOTION: Superpower special (panel debate)

Dear all,

It's that time of the year again.

We've been grappling with some serious issues over the last few weeks at CLDS and will be taking on many more in the weeks to come. So, as we wave goodbye to August, we commemorate what few days of sunshine we've had with the debating society summer special in the form of one of our much loved panel debates.

This year, we will welcome five volunteers to choose a superpower and argue why theirs is the best of them all over a series of rounds. At the end of each round, the audience will be asked to vote off one member of the panel until we are left with the winner.

The powers available are: the ability to fly, X-ray vision, invisibility, the ability to breathe underwater, and telepathy.

If you would like to speak in this debate, get in touch ASAP and let us know which superpower you would like to speak for. Also, if you're really itching to take part, but would rather select your own power, then let us know and we'll consider it, but we can tell you now the ability to steal other people's powers is not on the table.

There will still be a Q&A for people who'd rather come along and pepper the speakers with their questions, so plenty of opportunities for everyone to take part.If you have any questions or need any more information, do not hesitate to email us at central.debating@gmail.com.
