Sunday 19 Dec: End of Year Social

Dear all,

The debating society is breaking for Christmas now, so we thought we'd organise a proper afternoon out to say goodbye to 2010 in style.

Plan is simple: meet at Marble Arch tube station (exit 3 by the Arch itself) at 12.00 noon and while away a few hours in Winter Wonderland where we will eat, drink and be sick on the rollercoasters.

If you'd like to join us, please let Tony know or send an email to central.debating@gmail.com. If you can't make it at 12, then just turn up whenever you can make it and give Tony a call on 0777 565 7712 so he can tell you where we are.

All are welcome, so feel free to bring a friend along.

To all those who can't make it, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we'll see you at our first debate of 2011.

Thurs 9 December: Christmas Debate Spectacular

TIME: 7.30pm - 9.30pm

VENUE: Harcourt Arms, 32 Harcourt Street, W1H 4HX

The Central London Debating Society would like to invite you to the Christmas Debate Spectacular. Unlike normal weeks there is no formal motion this time. Instead we will have a series of smaller debates on different themes, in different styles and involving as many different people as possible. The motions will be announced on the night but don't worry, they will not require any prior research.

We want to try and get as many of you involved as possible so if you've never sat at the front before and debated this is the perfect opportunity to try out your skills. Come along for a light hearted evening of witty banter and Christmas cheer.

There's plenty of time to grab a drink and get settled before the event starts and we will stick around for a few more once it's over as inevitably that is always when the real debating begins.

If you have any questions or need any more information, do not hesitate to email us at central.debating@gmail.com.

Getting there:

If you would like to watch this debate, then simply come along on the night. You will find us in the upstairs dining room of the Harcourt Arms pub at 32, Harcourt Street W1H 4HX (a max 1o min walk from Baker St tube). For directions, see this map.

Admission:

Admission is, as ever, totally free of charge. All are welcome, so if you know anyone who might be interested in this debate, do feel free to bring them along.
