Next Debate: Thursday 23 June - How would you fix the economy?

DATE: Thursday 23rd June
TIME: 7.30pm (for 8pm start) - 9.30pm
VENUE: The Devereux, Strand, WC2R 3JJ
MOTION: How would you fix the economy?

Background:
Since assuming office 12 months ago, the coalition government has attempted to balance the books by reforming large swathes of Britain's economy such as the public sector, financial institutions and taxation. Despite these efforts to get the economy moving, growth in GDP has stalled for the past 6 months. With fresh bail-outs for Greece and the worsening debt crisis gripping the Eurozone, Britain has never been more in need of fresh thinking on the Economy.

The format for this debate will be slightly different from our usual debates. We will have a three person panel putting forward their proposal for fixing the economy, but instead of another team of speakers opposing them, we will be asking our audience to scrutinise their plans and suggest their own alternatives. The panel will then be given the opportunity to amend their proposals to include some of the suggestions put forward by the audience who will then be asked to vote.

Getting There:
Due to our higher than expected turnout last week, we will be changing venue for our next debate to ensure we have enough space for everyone who wishes to attend. We will be in the Devereux, a pub on the Strand who have given us their function room for the night which has capacity for up to 60 people. Please see here for directions.

We expect to return to the Harcourt Arms once attendance rates return to normal.
