Background

After the London riots that gripped the capital and beyond just weeks ago David Cameron has described the "Slow motion moral collapse" of Britain over the last decade.

Tony Blair in a rare intervention in British domestic politics said the moral collapse simply wasn't happening and that the riots were a "very specific problem caused by very specific phenomenons" of worklessness, inequality and a breakdown of family.

Is "youth culture" responsible for breakdown of society? Does moral decline go deeper than just the rioters? Do we give enough respect to moral behaviours in our communities? Is Britain in a state of irreversible moral decline?
