Next debate: Thursday 10th November - This House Would Disarm Iran by Force

Date: Thursday 10 November
Time: 7:30pm
Venue: Harcourt Arms, 32 Harcourt Street, London W1H 4HX
Motion: This House Would disarm Iran by force

Background:
Iran has a nuclear program that dates back to the 1950s as the peaceful development of nuclear energy plants. As the decades have passed the political landscape has changed, the Arab-Israeli conflict has escalated and so to has the nature of Iran's nuclear ambitions. President Ahmadinejad has long been supportive of an Iranian nuclear program proudly announcing in 2006 that he could make his own stockpiles of enriched uranium.

Accused of corruption, cronyism and electoral fraud and having pledged to "wipe Israel of the map" can Ahmadinejad be trusted to keep his nuclear ambitions peaceful? Should Arab states be allowed to enjoy the security that nuclear weapons bring? Is liberal interventation inevitable in Iran? Or a would we be looking for yet more "weapons of mass destruction" that do not exist?

You decide.
