End of year balloon debate - Thursday 8th December

Balloon Debate Motion: Who is your all-time greatest idol and why?

For our traditional end of year balloon debate, 6 volunteers will represent their personal heroes with the last person standing to be crowned greatest of them all (think Stars in their Eyes without the singing).

They will be tasked with navigating 4 rounds of debating, each in a different format, at the end of which the audience will be asked to vote off at least one contestant. They will have 4 minutes to make their case, except in the final round where they will have a full 5 minutes.

The formats for each round will be the following:

1. Speakers allowed only to talk about themselves and why they deserve to win (1 person voted off)
2. Speakers allowed only to talk about their opponents and why they deserve to lose (1 person voted off)
3. Q&A from the audience (2 people voted off)
4. Freestyle (winner takes all)

Idols can be absolutely anyone from any time period, dead or alive, real or fictional - all we want to know is why they beat everyone else's heroes hands down.

Admission:

Admission is, as ever, totally free of charge. All are welcome, so if you know anyone who might be interested in this debate, do feel free to bring them along.
